California Dreaming

California Dreaming

The drive from Eureka to San Francisco was everything the guide books promise - twisting roads with each corner revealing a view more spectacular than the last. Craigy cliffs, surf pounding into the rocky shore, and a horizon which seems to be infinitely far away.

After what seemed like hundreds of miles of nature, San Francisco was a complete change pf scenery. Arriving from the coast meant the Golden Gate Bridge was the point of access to the city. Coming in just as the sun was setting provided for a great chance to snap the city as it started to shine.

After some food, wandering around the Union Square area, and some sleep it was time to press on to Los Angeles - one of my favourite places. More great roads and some highway driving to make up some miles landed the S2 in LA in time to blast down from Westlake to Malibu via the Decker Canyon as the light was draining from sky. One word to describe that road - FUN!

After a wander around the crazy-touristy, but still entertaining, Santa Monica pier and the Third Street Promenade it was back to Marina Del Rey and the hotel. A damn fine first half of the trip. Pacific Coast and its awesome scenery and roads down, now onto Route 66!
